I guess that's fair enough.

I suppose, for me, that final shot is just so...it's so powerful.

As Padmé's getting married, she literally looks like she's choosing death. There's this real undercurrent throughout Attack of the Clones that really pushes this perspective, of how they're not going to have a happy ending. The fireplace scene too has so, so much of this running through it.

Yeah, I definitely respect that! I think I've said it before but I kind of wish I could see the movies the way you see them, because your readings of them are really interesting. It's just... not what I see on screen.

Attack of the Clones doesn't have to "push this perspective." There's no "undercurrent." There's nothing "running through" anything. It's an overcurrent, an explicit, obvious, taken-for-granted moot point because He's Darth. Vader. Everyone watching the movie knew he was Darth Vader. The movie assumes that everyone watching it knows he's Darth Vader. Obviously it will not turn out well. It's like watching a movie set on the Titanic in 1912 and going "gee, I wonder what's going to happen to these characters?"
