I have a flip phone (because of the absolute necessity in today's world), but I absolutely refuse to get an Iphone. As long as I can call out and people can reach me if they need to, then I don't need the fancy bells and whistles of a smart phone.

Same. Besides the finances involved, I think having the Internet constantly at my fingers would turn me into a royal pain in the ass. Other people can handle that temptation, but I am not one of them.

I had a dumbphone until six months ago and, despite my trepidation, switched to a smartphone. It's a love-hate relationship. I love having maps (which was the one feature that finally tipped the balances in favor of a smartphone) and being able to upload pictures instantly, but I think having a portable distraction unit has sapped my creativity. I sometimes daydream about switching back to a basic phone...but then I'm like WHAT ABOUT MAPS AND EASIER TEXTING AND A GOOD CAMERA AND GREAT MICROPHONE AND BOOK APPS AND AND AND and I wuss out.

Yeah, I actually carry around a stack of paper maps. <.< I have an easier time navigating them than digital ones, even if they're bulky and annoying. I find them really comforting.

Also, it's a matter of funding. I have an Obamaphone, which is free for me to use. My budget is pretty tight, and a smartphone just wouldn't work; I haven't heard of a plan for less than $50 a month, and that's like, a quarter of my monthly non-rent non-util money. Unless that thing can give me ecstatic experiences on a regular basis, it's not worth it to me.
