I would not even know where to start for learning something like archery. It seems like one of those things you got to get into as a kid.

I figure the extra food and water would also be useful in case of bad weather, which happens in Oklahoma.

I think there are enough archery places around that there's probably one not more than an hour from you? There's one a half hour from my college, and I'm in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, I live in hurricane territory, so we always have extra around just in case the power goes out or a pipe bursts or what have you.

I'll have to look around for one.

We are in tornado territory so I am always worried I'll get trapped in my basement waiting for help. :X

Rod and gun club should be able to set you up with archery/bowhunting skills.

I'll have to check them. I just looked on some archery site and they didn't have anyone listed in my area. : /

On top of the other suggestions, you could also look at stores that specialize in supplies for hunting. Often the larger ones will have an area to try out bows [and I'm assuming guns] that they'll give provide lessons in as well.

Also, if you get like a continuing education magazine/whatever it might be worth seeing if they have lessons in there.
