Little Careless things you've done recently

[personal profile] philstar22 2015-04-22 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone else done something careless recently that you feel bad about?

So I ordered Thai food tonight. Yay. Except that usually Grubhub's system automatically selects the tip on the card for me under there new system. Only for some reason I got routed to the old system tonight and didn't think to check. And I have no cash in the house (not even laundry quarters), so I couldn't tip the guy. And I feel horrible.

tip double next time :)

you could even ask the delivery next time to give a few bucks to the guy you didn't tip today if it's a different person.

or don't sweat it too hard esp. if it was a cheap order.

Thai is so delicious, what did you order?

Yes

Said something like 'yay' and forgot to thank the guy who helped me carry the box.

And I rated a seller on Amazon without waiting for their reply. On second thought I should've waited and only then rated them down.

I said yes to trying out a new cafe yesterday, thinking we would walk, but my friend wanted to drive because it was raining and I sort of automatically followed her into the car and then nearly threw up in it as she took us on a weird scenic drive for ten minutes. I fell over when I got out because the ground was moving. I just felt so bad because all I wanted to do was die quietly somewhere, and she was nice about it but I still feel horrible. I couldn't walk without holding on to her.

When vertigo is bad, do not car.

You have vertigo? I have vertigo too. I have a prescription for it, but there are still times where it is so bad I still can't ride in a car. And I can't ever read or even look at something in the car. Music helps sometimes, but it has to be with headphones in my ears. Car radio doesn't help. Trains aren't too bad unless I try reading, at least most of the time.

Can you do planes? I find that planes are the worst because every little movement makes it feel like it is flipping.

I do. I haven't tried flying since I started having problems with it, and I'm not looking forward to it.
Even on good days, the car makes me feel gross after a few minutes. I had to get a taxi the other day and they sent a maxi taxi and it was horrible. I had my hand over my mouth trying to stop myself from redecorating the interior.

I haven't tried music. I'll have to give it a go. This is newish to me. I think it started around the time my muscle twitching got more intense. I get inner ear spasms, which I can hear and feel. So maybe they're screwing up my balancing parts? Ear anatomy, I am clearly an expert.

Even lying down in bed when it's bad doesn't help because the bed tilts. At one point I had it continuously for a week and I slept on the floor curled up over my legs with my head between my knees.

Mine is an inner ear problem too. I take meclizine. I used to only take it as needed, but I'm now taking it three times a day because the vertigo keeps getting worse. It is basically the same drug in bonamine.

I have days where even moving makes things spin, and it is normal for the ground to feel like it is falling under me. And yes, the bed tilts.

But yes, it is treatable.

Awesome. I have another doctor's appointment soon so I might see if she'll write me a script.

They're not painful, but they're just so weird and annoying. It reminds me of when a wasp got in my ear and it was still alive, but I couldn't get it out.

My first reaction was "I have muscles there!?" then I did a weird MAKE IT STOP dance that involved some head shaking and trying to pull my ears in different directions to see if it would help.

I'm still waiting to see a specialist. They don't think it's an emergency unfortunately.

Thank you!

The wasp thing actually happened years ago when I was doing a warm up for a state level team riding event, and the wasp was still alive in my ear when I rode out to compete. I tried digging it out with my finger but it just went deeper and my teammates were pissing themselves laughing because my horse could sense how freaked out I was, so she was doing a weird little march on the spot and snorting.

We did about half an hour of riding before I jammed my pinky finger in there as hard as I could and squashed it, and then I rode for another few hours and put my horse away before I started scooping all the legs and guts out of my ear. I flushed it out with water, but I was paranoid for weeks that I'd missed some.

Weirdly enough I didn't feel any pain so I assume not?

Just lucky I guess :/

Lucky indeed! I can hardly imagine a worse place (that has actual epidermal surfaces) to get stung by a wasp than your ear canal. You can't really apply an ice pack or anything...

I'm glad it came out without causing any lasting harm (other than the heebie-jeebies).

Ugh, our vertigo is mostly gone except for pressure changes (planes and underwater, pretty much), and even that's gotten a lot better, but it was ASS. I'm sorry you have to deal with it.
