I only heard about that today and it's pretty messed up. Turns out she's an anti-vaxxer too, not that it's a real surprise. I can't imagine how much damage she may have caused, telling people they can cure cancer with diet and "natural therapies". Stories like this make me want to grab people who think this nonsense is harmless and shake them until their teeth rattle.

She was literally only in it for the money. Thus the book deal (which thankfully got cancelled). That's the reason 99.99999% of these quacks get into "alternative health" it's the money, lack of transparency, accountability. and the ability to blame bad or non-existent "science" on wild-eyed conspiracy theories that contain enough tinfoil to give the Earth a second moon.

These bloggers/"doctors"/alt-health people claim they're "doing good work"? Follow the money. That tells the whole story.

NAYRT-heh. Have I got a story for you. So a woman comes into my work looking for a book by "the coconut doctor. You know, the naturopath."
So I'm already kind of filing this doctor, whoever he is, in the quack file, when she spells his name, and I look him up, and go, "the clown?"
And she goes "no, the doctor!" and starts to look angry.
But they were the same guy. This "coconut cures all ills" guy used to be a clown. He wrote books with titles like "Make 'Em Laugh! Dr. Buffo's Guide to a Career in Children's Entertainment." (Not the actual title, but you get the idea.) So I asked the lady if she still wanted the coconut books, and she said no and left while telling her friend she couldn't believe he used to be a clown.
Then I tried to figure out where this doctor got his degree from. Removing the word "coconut" from google search returned zero results.

Probably some dodgy "university" where you can basically buy a useless degree. It happens, especially with quacks.
