See, it's weird because I completely and 100% agree with you. I have SO MUCH TROUBLE relating to these perfect idealized women.

At the same time, though, this seems to be a much more minor problem for men. I rarely see guys have trouble relating to hardcore badasses who get all the ladies and save the day. I guess I wonder why it is that men can so readily identify with these amazing men but women don't feel the same connection with amazing ladies.

Is it because the men tend to be better written? The men are generally the protagonists? Or something else?

I hate to stereotype, but I find most men to be a little delusional when assessing their own character. A lot of them think they actually are like those idealized badasses.

It's because male is considered default on a societal level. Female characters are already considered special or unusual or out there for being female characters, so any other special traits strain suspension of disbelief more than they would when applied to a male character.
