It is much like the pumpkins in the gloaming in the fall, at dustdown.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE

I mean even as a tar season thing

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. I'm pretty psyched by pumpkins in the gloaming at dustdown, aren't you?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really!

TRYHARD

Was it ever confirmed that they were actually hosting anything, beyond having a list of titles?

AO3's official stance seems to verify people's past experiences with this sort of site, i.e. that they don't actually have the content they're purporting to sell (in this case they were only redirecting back to the AO3 source), they're just huge phishing scams for CC details.

I was a little excited that I had the most "taken" out of my group of friends, I have to admit...

Sometimes, I'm just that shallow!

I say this as someone who was totally one of the people freaking out all over the place - this is why fandom needs to learn to hold their horses before getting their panties in a twist. (The whole internet, really. How many outcries have ended up being hoaxes or misunderstandings?)

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Good on you. Some of us felt quite differently.

Stop posting on the internet.

I sent in an e-mail asking them to pull my stuff down and they had it done within a few hours. Overall, it took about five minutes of my time. I really don't feel like it was that big of a deal myself.

I haven't heard anything new about this since people first discovered this. Has anything happened? Does the site still exist?

I was amused to find some of my works on their. It says it has reviews but free membership that requires a credit card? No way! I can live without those reviews.

Personally offended by what was taken, tbh

(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
They had seven of mine and it wasn't even like, good stuff. One had less than 300 words. One was incomplete.

Dude, bots, at least take the smut, ffs.

(mostly sarcasm, if you didn't know)

(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know what the heck that is.

Text: I know it was bots scraping at random, but I was still psyched they took some of mine.

I guess that thing is the reason why so many authors have suddenly members locked their fic on AO3.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
I can understand, OP!

In the same way, I was sort of sad none of mine was there, since other people I checked all had some of their fic there ;)

I kind of felt it proved what I already know - few people care about my fic, and I get few or no reviews (and one of those is always a flame about my choice of characters or pairing)
