Re: slightly off-topic
(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 01:19 am (UTC)(link)Ah, but not being able to feel empathy is hardly a choice, isn't it? If someone is born without the ability to feel compassion, or the ability to understand WHY something is right or wrong and commits deplorable actions because of this, would they (or should they) be considered "more evil" or less evil"?
Re: slightly off-topic
(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 01:34 am (UTC)(link)But people who can't feel empathy are still able to understand right and wrong, most of them just don't care.
I think a complete inability to tell right from wrong probably isn't evil, because there's no opportunity for them to make a choice.
Re: slightly off-topic
(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 04:28 am (UTC)(link)I'm pretty sure the inability to tell right from wrong is actually classified as insanity, since it's essentially the inability to comprehend the consequences of one's actions on a fundamental level.
So yeah, not evil in the sense of actively choosing something you know to be wrong, just pretty fucking scary.
