Drawing with a tablet vs with traditional media can be very different and both take practice and getting used to. You should definitely try it. Not being good enough is great motivation to want to try and make it better! That's how I started as a kid, wanting to perfect drawings of things that I was in love with at the time. I didn't draw continuously, but I picked up drawing again in college. Tablets are good from the stand point that you don't need a whole mess of items with you and that you can always erase your mistakes. But I would recommend just practicing with a blank piece of paper and anything else you have on hand. I've only recently begun drawing with a tablet, but it really helps to have some knowledge and experience with traditional tools. Good luck to you and draw when you can! I know I'm still working on mine.
