[Spec Ops: The Line]

woah, I'm not the only one who plays spec ops when they're feeling down. it's weirdly comforting. like, "hey, could be worse."

I actually cannot play Spec Ops when I'm depressed. The first time I played it, I played it back-to-back with the first season of The Walking Dead (don't do this, kids, seriously) and when I came out the other end...

I usually wind up needing to play something dumb and silly (usually Duke Nukem 3D fits the bill) when I play games like that.

For me, I think there's an element of reassurance in thinking that no matter how badly I fuck up, I cannot possibly fuck up as badly as Walker did. It makes me feel better -- I guess it helps put my problems into perspective.

It's weird because he does it to himself. Maybe that's why I find him so pitiable, because he tries so very, very hard to be a hero and wants desperately to do the right thing but he just fucks it up so, so badly.

On the plus side, I found fanart of him getting a hug, which makes me ridiculously happy.

Text: Whenever I’m stressed or feel like a failure, I play this game. It comforts me to know that no matter how badly I screw up, I can never fuck up anywhere NEAR as badly as he did.

Despite everything, though I really want to give Walker a hug. I just feel so SORRY for him, even knowing all the terrible things he did.
