If you are talking about a show in GC, always post a spoiler warning blank post first. Any show at all. You don't know when it was released foreign. It is only a simple courtesy, it isn't hard.

I endorse this. Either all spoiler warnings or no spoiler warnings. Pick one, anything inbetween either option is going to be a kludge and a guaranteed running sore as people try to loophole it and lobby for thread freezing/deleting for months as a troll magnet.

I would personally vote for this. It makes it my responsibility to avoid the thread that potentially has spoilers but I can still see most of the parts of GC that I come here for without feeling like I need to dodge fandom threads to get to them. Anons who don't want spoiler rules can post all the spoilers they want in the thread I can not look at.

I am not a fan of this idea at all. I think it would rather pointlessly split GC.

GC often gets too long already imo. A lot of threads at the bottom get collapsed and lost because it's too long.

Sure, but by the time threads get to that point, the post has usually been up for hours and the majority of people who come here have moved on to do other things. Nothing is really permanent here -- with a new post on a daily basis, outside of screaming matchesdiscussions that run long (and people who wait for Case to go to sleep to shitpost/harass others) most people simply comment on the new post, and carry forward conversations from the previous day if need be. Everything is fleeting here.

I like it, because it'd probably foster more discussion for fandom.

I don't think the split GC is a good idea. The mix of fannish and rl stuff is what makes the GC thread so interesting. I think a seperate thread for spoilers of any kind, as an anon suggested below, is a better idea:

Like the Games thread, but for spoilers.

Yes, please. Just because someone's seen it in country of origin doesn't mean anyone else has.

I'm not a fan.

I'm sorry, but the idea of posting a spoiler bump comment for goddamn TOS, or something like that, is ridiculous.

Honestly, I'd be fine with just indicating spoilers in the subject line (maybe in caps). Spoilers for everything seems a bit excessive, any reply to a general question could contain spoilers. Not a fan of splitting up GC, I like the mix between fandom/RL we've got right now.

Not really. I don't think it is worth the hassle to ban either, there are few things that really cause big ructions. I think we've had two Doctor Who spoiler threads, one of which was by accident caused by someone being too busy wanting to discuss it to think, and then this mess which seems to be fed more by the row they can stoke than anything else. I don't see a policy doing anything to deter either of those. I don't see it happening often enough to really worry. Just make it explicit in the comm warning there could be spoilers anywhere and let it go.
