Yeah I think that sounds good. Is there a time limit on spoilers though? Like, it counts as spoilers X amount of time after the media has come out?

If we had to pick a time, I'd say a week. Because anybody who really wants to watch something should have at least one free day in a week, and if they really want to watch something they'll have done so in that amount of time. This is conservative as hell though and I don't expect a lot of agreement.

I dunno, that's a really short timeframe. I'd argue a month might be better.

In all fairness to the spoiler!anon, it sounds like they're someone who is angry because they've gotten spoiled on media in the past that had already come out in the USA but hadn't in wherever anon lives.

As funny as I find them getting so salty about it, I think it is kind of a legitimate issue. If we're making spoiler rules, are we just going to go from first US release date as our benchmark?

I agree with the all or nothing anons. I also thing that pragmatism anon has a point. Putting in the policy will just egg trolls on in posting spoilers.

That's actually a good point. I think it's probably best if we take into consideration the last release date (in practical terms, this usually means Europe, but sometimes Europe gets stuff before the US does) when considering where to draw the line as to when it's okay to not collapse for spoilers.

Like, not as a hard and fast rule, but it's certainly got to be at least a little frustrating because us Yanks get to talk about all the cool stuff before the Europeans do and that should be a factor in when/where to talk about it.

Keep in mind with AOU that would mean July as that's when it's released in Japan.

Do we have very many Japan-based posters here, though? I think maybe one...

Bear in mind that I'm not actually seriously suggesting we do any of this.

It doesn't even have a release date for my country yet, we are still waiting on the translators. Gotta have to hold off till September or probably the end of October at least.

I think anon is being a dick but I have to sympathise with that. I am pretty smug that we get to see AOU before America for once. I just also don't care enough to spoil people lol.

However if the differences between release dates is more than a couple of week I don't think any spoiler rule would be effective to help those who are waiting. Frustrating as it is.

But if release dates are bundled within a week or two of each other across the majority of the world I think about a week from the last one is alright, give or take a day due to time differences confusing people.

I would say 6 months to a year.
