I had same type of troop leader bullshit.

We were having a sleep over and the girls started bullying me and pushing me and pulling on my hair. I started crying and the troop leader acted so put out by it and told me to grow up, and was pissed that my mom had to come get me. She lied to my mom to cover for her bitch of a daughters antics and made it seem like I was a cry baby. They did they same shit at another bigger sleepover that had girl scouts from all over the area and I bitch slapped her in front of a group of girls. I got in trouble of course, but at least it was a tiny victory for me.

also, I've seen so many HBIC girl scout mom leader stories. I'm not sure how they do it anymore, but the leader should never be a relative or a mom or someone who intimately knows the troupe. Too much nepotism goes down. I know it's a small organization and they couldn't afford to send out trained people, but really they should.

This has been my experience, too. I was only in Girl Scouts for a few years, but the troop leader's daughter was one of the school's snottiest Mean Girls and her mother wasn't much better. There was blatant favoritism for her daughter and her daughter's circle of friends.

Yeah, but "should" and "can" are two very different animals, and the latter is one they likely can't afford seeing as that would mean taking on a ton of new employees.

Seriously. The best troop leader I had was the neighbor of one of the girls in the troop, and had no kids in one (I don't even think she had kids tbh).

It was just so much nicer, and when she was tag-teaming with a parent, she made sure to keep things fair. It was nice.
