The actor who portrayed Sherlock Holmes was knighted by the Queen, and the film it's self was proclaimed to be the most artistically superior Sherlock Holmes adaptation ever made (spare for one single flaw: left sided driving).

By Russians, perhaps. I love the show, but the portrayal of Victorian British life approaches caricature and although they try hard, the locations look very, very off.

By the Queen of England. She considers it the most authentic SH adaptation (just read up on it).
...And it was intended to be a caricature in the style of 'The Twelve Chairs'....It was a comedy...
