Re: Media to pass on

Yeah, you would think math shouldn't be dated. But they are teaching math in new ways now.

Also, I'm amazed at how snobby kids can be about media. My brother has two youngish kids and they are very quick to reject anything that's not Disney or Marvel. It has to have a certain look to it, a certain slickness, or they won't even try it. It's not like my brother and his wife are super biased against that kind of thing so it's not something that's really being taught to the kids. But the kids are super picky.

I would love to introduce Gargoyles in a few years but I think even that might be too dated for no more than not having cell phones or the internet. I feel like maybe when the kids are much older, they could appreciate something dated but they won't have come to love it as a kid the way I did.

Maybe that's another reason why Monty Python and the Holy Grail holds up so well, even though it was made in the 70s, it was poking fun at King Arthur.

Kids are unusual. I babysit a six year old who absolutely loves playing with my old Polly Pockets and dollhouses but then rejects a lot of other things I loved as a child.
