There's nothing wrong with it being your favorite book, though? I mean, it is what it is, and frankly I think at its heart it's about a woman, how her circumstances change and she's forced to adapt, and a love story. I mean it's essentially from her perspective so it's not really a terrible thing that it takes a sympathetic or pro-South stance.

I mean if you're using it to claim the South was awesome and the North sucked and slavery was cool, yeah, that's problematic. But this book is considered a classic and its essentially historical fiction, right? Anyway we're not really talking about Birth of a Nation or something here, of course it's got problems but I hardly think anyone who isn't a SJW is going to be offended if you said you liked the book.
