Okay, so now you understand how kids can fall into horrible ideas, and you know how to get out of those horrible ideas. You've got inside understanding, which I'm sure leads to greater empathy. There's nothing wrong with understanding a racist - it's a good thing!

Look, everyone makes stupid mistakes as a kid. Look at how many teenagers have warped ideas about relationships. That doesn't mean they shouldn't have access to romance novels. It means they should be given education and a reasonable amout of forgiveness while they grow up.
