Re: Fandom Etiquette

This. Do I really need to see "character A sucks!" under the character tag? I would love to discuss the character (well, as much as tumblr allows discussion), and I definitely don't think they are perfect, but some of the stuff I see tagged is ridiculous. Can't it just be tagged "Character A rant" or "Character A hate" or something?

Yeah. I frequently see people posting variations of "I really hate [name of the show]" in the main tag of a show I'm a fan of, and that's just... not what anyone comes to look for in that tag. It doesn't even contribute anything. It's not constructive, it has no context... Okay, it's quick to scroll past, but.

I guess I don't like seeing "clutter" on specific Tumblr tags. I wanna spend my Tumblr procrastination time actually focused on something I care about, not scrolling past unconstructive hate posts.

And the "it's for my own blog's organization" excuse doesn't really work because they could just add five filler tags before the organization tag, then they could find it on their blog but it wouldn't show up on the main tag. Or even better, tag it "#anti [something]" and/or "#[something] hate", then other people who want to find criticism or hate of the thing, could find THAT easily, AND it wouldn't clutter the main tag...
