It'd be fine if we got a gay character, but I highly doubt it'll happen. Cause since this is a show that is basically a GIANT doll commercial, who ends up buying a lot of dolls? Parents. And many many parents still haven't come to grips with gay people, so seeing a doll line promote one will kill sales. I mean, it already has nay-sayers because of how stylized the dolls are. They get more flack than Barbie does. And despite some sales, it's seeing a quality decline with less and less detailed accessories and new basics no longer coming with pets and such. Ever After High is suffering the most with that, but I digress.
My biggest beef was this one person who made a snide comment about how the show squandered a poly relationship representation with Frankie/Holt/Jackson. One, that pair had very little to go on after the initial episodes in the first seasons. And two, they wrote themselves into a corner with Holt and Jackson. Since they are two halves of the same person, it was difficult to write a working relationship with Frankie cause..she'd only EVER be with ONE of them at a time and the other wouldn't even really know it.
And if the two halves ever got on good terms and worked things out (using iCoffins to do so), they woould most likely merge and he'd basically become a hybrid and one whole being. so...no poly relationship. Unless Ghoulia could somehow build a machine that could split them. But I don't see that working too well cause it'd make me think of the episode of Star Trek where Kirk was split in two and each side was an extreme, which is exactly what Holt and Jackson are. They would most likely end up wanting to be fused together again to be whole.
So all in all, a poly relationship wouldn't have been feasible because of the terrible writing and backing into a corner. SO, they made a new character that represents a more united duality (Neighthan Rot, a hybrid), for Frankie and basically pushed Holt and Jackson into the background. And the ardent shippers in the fandom are pissed as fuck.
