While I generally don't mind doing work for hire, I wish it was a system we could do away with and require that companies always give the little guy at least a small piece of the overall profit.

I was just thinking about today how I've played a small part in things that made millions of dollars and that super rich person just got even richer for doing nothing but having their name attached and I can't even pay my rent.

Capitalism.

There's a name for the system you're advocating, and that name is syndicalism.

I think 19th century whaleships were run on roughly the same principle. Only you might be the poor slob who got the 275th lay--which I think is something like 0.36 percent of the profit.
