I'm taking a RP English Phonetics class at uni (I'm ESL) and I have some issues getting past a mental barrier where I feel like I put on this super posh act when trying to speak with an RP accent.

Also, I get super nervous when trying to speak in public. So while I think I sound fine when just sitting in my flat speaking to myself, my native accent (and almost worse, my intonation) just really pops up when I'm trying to speak to others. I'm really starting to dread oral exams, though mine isn't until the beginning of June, thankfully.

Good luck on your exam tomorrow!! Speaking French isn't easy, but I'm sure you'll do better than you'll think! :)
