But why? What started? What is it related to? Someone said fergerson up thread, this is in America? Who is the family asking for peaceful protests? Tldr I haven't heard about any of this what's the rundown?

I haven't followed the details as closely as others, but basically, this is in Baltimore, Maryland, and it's another police violence against minorities thing - in this case, the protests were sparked by the death of Freddie Gray, who was arrested by the police and then somehow mysteriously got his neck broken while in police custody and died a week later.
