THANK YOU, OP.

Someday I want another geek series on TV where both the men and the women have fandom interests and obsessions and aren't all top tier scientists. Also, no more stereotypes. I've warmed up to the show and it's improved quite a bit but it's still full of stereotypes. As bad as it has been in handling the female characters, it's still even worse towards the men.

I'd also like to see geeky interests a little more realistically distributed. Very few geeks are equally super-invested in LOTR, Star Wars, Star Trek and comics. Where's the love for geeky literature? Why do none of the ladies write/read fanfic?

:(

As a female geek that IS heavily invested in all of the things you mentioned, it's sad to think that my peer group is small.

DA. Yeah I can see what anon is saying but I think a lot of us do cross fandom.

I think it'd be realistic though if they had geek girls that were into some fandoms, but not others. And if there were some hobbies they only partook in every once in a while versus ones they do all the time (like I play video games often but I rarely pick up comics.)

It'd also be interesting watch people lose interest or abandon things when they get irritated with them, because people in fandom do that a lot.

I don't mean that nobody likes more than one fandom, only that it's rare to be equally, heavily invested in every major fandom out there the way the show portrays. If nothing else, people lack the resources, time and money to be a hardcore fan of half a dozen different things.

Amy does write Little House on the Prairie fan fiction. Terrible, self-insert Little House on the Prairie fan fiction.

DA. Obviously what we need is more characters like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock.

Jack: I can give you a season pass to Universal's Harry Potter World.
Liz: Ok, I am not some kind of nerdery slut. I like Star Wars!
