Re: Rant Thread
Re: Rant Thread
Try telling this to anyone who lets their pet roam everywhere and kill things, and they will act like you're taking away their personal freedom. They seem to be the people least likely to desex their pets, too.
It's one step away from being the type to not care about leaving them behind when they move or driving them out of town and "releasing" them because they've grown too big.

:( poor kitties.
Re: Rant Thread
Unfortunately though belladonna is right that if you complain about the poop or the bird-harassing or anything else they will probably not take it well. :/ My parents bought a house recently (haven't moved yet) and have two greyhounds, which are probably among the least small-animal-safe dogs you can find, and some of the new neighbors complained because they have outdoor cats. But the greys are never, EVER, EVER outside the house without either a) a fence or b) a leash, for their own safety more than anything else, and if a cat came onto their property, how can they be responsible for that? Dog is staying in dog's own yard; cat is not. It's sticky because I can understand wanting to keep things the way they are, but letting a cat (especially one with a poor survival instinct) wander outside carries risks, including that dangers not previously present might appear (such as someone moving in with dogs). I can see both sides because my ex's family has (had? I don't know, haven't seen them in ages) two indoor/outdoor cats who were wonderful and usually stuck around the house (also neutered, fully vetted, still had claws, etc.) - but some cats do like to wander and range far away.
/long comment is long.
(But seriously any animal that POOPS IN SOMEONE ELSE'S YARD, if the owner won't take responsibility and clean it up, they're being a diiiiick.)
Re: Rant Thread
I know who owns the kittens I'm terrified of the dog getting - she's already roughed up one and I explained. Seems they've got another one? Or always did but now it is checking out the yard and I'm trying to persuade it that this yard is scary STAY OUT. It's a teen abs lives with a small dog so not much brains.
Front yard poop and bird cats don't officially have an owner - they are ferals the old lady across the road feeds. I'm thinking I might buy some plants cats don't like and plant them along the fence line.
Forgot to mention - in my front yard? Got some plants poisonous to pets. That's why they're in the front yard - so my guys don't get them. Can't stop roaming cats when I'm at work or asleep!
I think all the cats are moving in cause they've reLised the previous owner and her old tom cat are gone - but are unaware of the large quiet dog with high prey drive!
I'll feel sad if she does get one of them but I won't take responsibility. My pets stay to my land :/ cause consequences happen otherwise.
Also we live 15 metres from a highway.
