the night supervisor is actually okay, even fun, to work with sometimes, but damn I cannot with her attitude. She is so insecure and constantly goes out of her way to remind people that she's in charge. She actively tries to cut me off from communicating with people outside of our department if I have questions on things (and I mean things that are pertinent to the jobs of those outside-the-department people) - she wants me to rely completely on her, which is aggravating because she's definitely not the smartest person around and doesn't always have a good answer. But if I dare suggest that I think she might be wrong about something it's a problem. She takes anything other than absolute, unquestioning obedience as a personal attack on her authority, and responds in a way that's rude and loudly hostile in front of everybody on the floor. She has a control streak a mile wide. She will go out of her way to prevent anyone other than her from having any kind of influence on trainees. She's also kind of slimy (this is the woman who abandoned her husband's dog and lied about it, and she's the kind of person you can't trust with anything because she'll act behind your back and tell our boss anything and everything she hears).
I've had control freak bosses before, but this one is worse than the last one I had because she's so underhanded about everything so I can't really confront it. If I do anything that could be possibly construed as confrontational if you squint, all of a sudden there's an outburst, and I'm the asshole, and there's no chance in the world of her having a reasonable conversation about it unless you ask her for one after the fact (she will basically talk over you, turn her back, and act like a teenager about it). Oh, and when I did that today, she brought another co-worker as a witness, and when I asked if it could be private, she said, "no, [boss] said if I had to talk to you...I mean if I had to talk to anybody, I could bring someone else to sit in." Wow, fuck you too.
...the actual boss is actually even worse but I don't work with her very often so the rant was centered on the night supervisor.
Less than three months now until I can transfer out of this department. *takes deep breath*
