Re: Rant Thread
I'm so sorry. :/ When's the soonest you'll be able to change your living situation?
Does he shower? Is it a medical issue (if you have any idea)?
Re: Rant Thread
I'm feeling slightly more charitable towards him now because he did find me curled up on the bathroom floor and bring me an ice pack and some fruit juice. So gross, but helpful.
Rent is so expensive here right now that I just don't see it happening for a while yet.
Re: Rant Thread
But it just sounds like a frustrating situation overall - I think people who live like that don't realize how it affects people around them; it's very unpleasant, all the time, and not considerate roommate (lack of) behavior.
Re: Rant Thread
He seems genuinely confused that you have to clean certain things. He walked in on me cleaning food splatter off the microwave door, and was like "what are you doing? you don't need to clean that. it's an appliance."
I was like "uhh they don't clean themselves. where did you think the curry crust you leave in here disappears to?"
He also didn't realise you have to empty the drip tray attachment on a meat rack. He kept using it in the oven by putting fresh foil over the top part. It was solid grease by the time I finally found it.
Re: Rant Thread
Re: Rant Thread
He's always accused me of sneaking up on him when I've been in the same room with him for sometimes an hour and he just hasn't registered my presence. He doesn't read books or have any kind of emotion unless he has an audience. It's a bit like living with an alien trying to imitate a human life form. He doesn't seem sure what people are supposed to do in their own homes, nor does he want to learn.
Re: Rant Thread
He sounds rather odd.
Re: Rant Thread
Idk. I guess it's extra annoying because if I don't know how to do something, I at the very least attempt to teach myself. He just doesn't. He can't screw in a lightbulb. He. Literally. Cannot. Screw. In. A. Lightbulb.
It got to the point where there was only one light working downstairs (out of 6 downlights in the living room, kitchen, laundry, stairs, and dining room) and a table lamp in the living room and he still didn't make the connection between something needing to be done and him being the only one in the house physically capable of doing it. I asked, I begged, I nagged. I gave very simple instructions on how to change the bulbs. I brought the stepladder directly to his lounge and the spare bulbs.
He has no problem with ladders. No phobias. No injuries. I've seen him get up to hang banners at parties. He would just rather live in the dark than get up and do something about it.
It's like living with a slug. I'm surprised his brain and limbs haven't atrophied from lack of use.

Re: Rant Thread
I'm too grateful to be weirded out. I would assume he was poisoning me to keep me around, but he's too lazy to plan anything that elaborate.
