That's what I was wondering too. I'm surprised how many people have such problems with basic cooking/food preparing.

If you didn't grow up in a home where someone routinely did it, it's bound to be a big old mysterium tremendum to you.

Both my parents cook; from the time I could hold a potato peeler I was expected to help, and eventually given the job of preparing a family meal when they were busy; that's how you learn. But if that didn't happen, imagine trying to learn from magazines and food blogs, with their styled plates and artisanal ingredients and perfectionism.

Of course, some people just have other priorities, like being on social media 6 hours a day.
