9. God, I hate Ramos. He tries to be stylized and it just looks like he has no concept of anatomy.

43. Get the cast recordings. Inform yourself about what the original's like. It's pretty easy even if you can't go to see the play. You see, a major part of musicals is this stuff called "music" that I hear comes pretty cheap these days...

43. You know, maybe her point may be that the OP just is afraid of elitists...
She has every right to like the movies? I know I like movie musicals. I love the music for them, too.

31. It would be awesome, especially considering how "ew lesbians!" they all are.

43. My problem with the secret is the laziness inherent in "Oh, I can't get to Broadway, therefore I can't know anything about the Broadway version."

I adore the Cabaret movie and the RENT movie and a bunch of the other musical movies. But even though I live on the opposite coast from Broadway it's not THAT difficult to get my hands on a cast recording and make up my own damn mind about how the movie measures up.

Yeah - but I have to say, all that still wouldn't hold half a candle to the real thing. Just listening to cast recordings and reading reviews can never give you a truly informed opinion of the original production; isn't that why people value the magic of the stage, everything about the very experience of going to a show?

As to the secret, I don't think the message implies anything about the OP's unwillingness to learn about the original, and I agree with what they say, access to Broadway, in the only sense that matters, is a privilege and a luxury to many. It shouldn't be, but there it is.
