Well, Mukuro does have a certain limit to his power, so I don't think that letting her exist in her body is completely selfless so much as it is self-preservation, but you're right, he would probably come out far more often if he didn't have at least some positive feeling for her.

Basically! I mean, he says he sees them as tools, but then he goes and saves all of them, even getting captured so that Ken and Kakipii can be free. And although part of him yes, does keep Chrome alive with his powers, he still comes out to save her in battles, and, as you said, she gets to be herself.

Plus, Chrome seems, although demure and obliging to a fault at times, very self-aware and a good judge of character, and I don't think she'd blindly follow Mukuro if she recognised he was just using her.

That's true, but I feel as if he would be a bit more domineering if he were really so bad. This isn't to say that I think Mukuro is really just sitting around and waiting for the opportunity to be a fluffy bunny. The guy is seriously fucked up. He likes hurting people, he likes being covered in blood, and he likes power, but he's not COMPLETELY in the position of using them for selfish means. But the moment he'd be around someone whose body he wanted--Tsuna, for example--he'd take advantage of it. He's not done that as much, and he's done a fair job of being there for Chrome to the best of his ability while letting her try to keep herself together.

I have the theory that Mukuro actually effectively never says anything that he really feels about things for his image (either to seem more badass or to make the stupid people go away). Tsuna sees through that, and I think Mukuro knows that, especially after Tsuna being able to see him save Chrome and his two chronies. That said, he was incredibly gentle toward her when he came to save her during the ring arc. That's not something that indicates he's using her and nothing else.

Well, I don't think Chrome would be very fond of some of the stuff that Mukuro does in the least. Even though I think she's incredibly grateful to him, and might back off a bit because of that, I'm sure she can tell that he has his reasons. Even if Mukuro doesn't think with what most of us would call "human logic." Which isn't to say I don't agree with you. I definitely think she'd be like, "Mukuro-sama :|||||" if it came to things going too far.

Basically. He has the seven layers of Hell, after all, and I personally think he feels like his logic surpasses human logic, who don't see things the way he does because he has a broader view of the world as a whole. He really will go through anything to get to his final goals, and yes, he does use people and do underhand tricks to get to where he wants to be, but that isn't to say he doesn't care for them ~~secretly, of course xD~~.

Mukuro is basically a complicated character, and while I could see the secret-maker thinking he's a selfish prick, he really... isn't. I thought that was obvious? XD;

Yes, Tsuna really sees through him and Chrome both. When everyone said Chrome WAS Mukuro, he was the only one (well, together with Reborn, I think?) that it wasn't Mukuro exactly.

No, I agree, Chrome wouldn't agree and comply readily, but at the same time, she does follow the path Mukuro chooses for her as being in Tsuna's party. Although I do think she honestly would go :| if he tried to take Tsuna's body, but at the same time, I don't know how much choice she would have in the matter, if Mukuro wanted to do it. Chrome is an incredibly strong character in her own right, but against Mukuro... I don't know.

Yeah, he is a complicated character. I admittedly didn't put as much thought into him until I started RPing him (Gokudera is my favorite character in the manga), but now that I have, I figure this is all ... really obvious. I think the thing to keep in mind is that he's not openly nice, or caring, or much of a good guy at all.

I guess it might be surface level versus subtlety. I know the writer of Reborn! isn't the best when it comes to uh, writing at times, but she's done a fair job in portraying Mukuro.

I don't even know if he still INTENDS to take Tsuna's body. But that's a whole other set of theories right there. xD

Gokuderaaa~ ♥ Well, it's not truly obvious, but to mistake a character so much that you think he's just using someone when he's really... not, or at least not to such a degree, is a bit stunning.

XD; Parts of it are well-written, but characters purely for plot purposes... is kind of fail, I'll concur XD; She's better with writing the laughing stuff than she is with difficult plots. |D;

Yeah, beats me. Mukuro talks in riddles. @__@; Maybe he just wants to off Tsuna so he can take his place, or w/e. It's the reason of vagueness that prevents me from RPing Mukuro as a whole. xD;

The thing is, I find that most of the fandom thinks this while poking around. It's incredibly disconcerting to see that so many people miss what seems to be an integral part of Mukuro's character? I mean, unless they're assuming it purely off his first appearance. In that appearance, Mukuro is NOT a good person. He's a complete dickface, really, but you actually grasp more about him from a few panels in the ring arc than anywhere else.

I think her difficult plots are amazing, but yeah, I can tell she has a lot more fun with the funny situations. I mean, there were seven volumes of that stuff.

I don't know. I find Mukuro easier to figure out than Hibari. Hibari bemuses me as a whole, since all these people see this depth to him that I can't get. DX Which isn't faulting them or anything, but yeah. I've really had the time of my life playing Mukuro, especially since I picked him up on a whim.

Oh, really? Huh. That... surprises me a lot. XD; I thought it was fairly obvious, but then again, I have a love for bi-colored eyes and ohohohoho I'm so shallow. xD; But to have a character with more behind him than the basic copypasta 'nice sports guy' was refreshing to me. Haha, I love Yamamoto a LOT, but most of the characters are very... obvious? But they're very well-written so it doesn't bother me at all, really. xD

Yeah. Haha, the first seven volumes and then all of the sudden, PLOT. I was like 'wait wut?' xD; Fortunately, it's a good humor stuff, not the 'oh wow that wasn't... funny at all pantyshot' stuff. XD;

Haha, wow, similar thoughts ftw. Everyone gives Hibari such complicated thoughts and feelings when I think he basically just has his pride and the pride for Namimori, and... I really can't see where everybody who makes him a fluffy uke ~~to Dino, for example~~ comes from... unless they're taking their characterisation from his image song. @__@; I don't know, I don't really see how he would be in any romance situation. xD;

Yeah, I was pretty surprised to find it, too. I think my favorite think about Reborn! is that even IN the silly parts, the characters are wonderfully consistent and stay with their characterizations. Even if some of them do become gimmicky, there's not the normal inconsistency that you find with many shounen mangas (even ones that I adore, like D. Gray-man and Air Gear--I love these ones, but argh DX).

A lot of people seem to think that he's this incredibly perceptive, snarky person with a sly and cunning mind, with this deep and complicated past and he's so ~alone~. I guess that has to come from the image song, but if you look at the image songs, Mukuro ... yeah. I don't get the romance situation, either.

Ooh yes, absolutely. The mangaka's not afraid of characterisation, by giving Gokudera an actual past + reason for his fuck-off-attitude, but she's also not afraid to give them personalities that are slightly different in the future in the TYL parts. And it's not an unbelievable 180 degree switch either. Looove. (Oh Lord, I love DGM, but... honestly, Allen has so many personality switches that I found it incredibly hard to essay him in order to RP him. HNNRG.)

I think he's really... dumb in the wit department. He's cunning because he has to be for his faito, but... other than that? I don't think there's really too much to him. xD; I like MukuroHibari because it's such antitheses of mind vs. bodily harm ♥ Not because I think they'd make a love connection. D: I don't think Hibari -can- make much of a connection other than fascination (the positive) or dislike (the negative). It's all black and white for Hibari, imho. And love doesn't really fit in it xD; LOL yeah the image songs are REALLY NOT based on their personalities. xD;;; Although I have to admit, Kufufu no Fu cracks me up everytime. Poor Mukuro.

NATURALLY! XD I'm not very active in the Reborn fandom, but most of my posts are fandom posts anyhow. XDb

I especially love the TYL later stuff because it definitely makes sense even if they DO seem like they've grown up quite a bit. But you can see how they got there, especially given the life they live in. (I agree. I really want to RP someone from DGM, but there's either too little for a character or it's like Allen, and you have to mesh his various personality changes.)

I can see the intrigue behind Mukuro/Hibari, but the fact that Hibari's so :|, well, it kind of turns me off the pairing a little. I have worked out the mechanics of it, and it DOES make the most sense out of the apparent Hibari pairings out there.

I'm not active in the fandom, either, but I just like having cool people on my flist, and you seem cool!

That's it exactly! Nevermind the prettiness of all their TYL versions, it just... makes sense. That's why I'm so curious to see how Xanxus and Dino have changed. ♥ God, I'm RPing Allen, and it just gave me a headache working all of the stuff he's doing out. I've notched most of the stuff up to being under stress from the things going on around him, but... yeah, it's REALLY HARD. xD; And I love Tyki, but... SO HARD Q___Q;

Bahh, I just can't see Mukuro voluntarily giving up part of his pride to willingly be with someone else (and to Hibari, it would mean giving up part of his pride. xD;) And... well, I suppose Tsuna/Hibari makes sense because he's now a tad interested in Tsuna in the TYL version, and HibariReborn also makes... a bit sense, I suppose, but Reborn would never date one of his apprentice's followers (=weaker than he is xD), and Tsuna... eh, I mostly see him as straight for Kyoko. |D; Hibari's just better off alone, but Mukuro prodding him would be fun.

And I really don't understand the mass appeal of Yamamoto/Hibari. @___@; That's one pairing I even see less than D18. xD;
