(Anonymous) 2015-04-29 03:57 am (UTC)(link)And yeah, the horror exception was more about "I don't want nightmares" rather than me actually having anything against the genre (I also miss out on a hell of a lot of cool-sounding video games because of this, haha), though the ones you listed don't seem the type for that? Anyway, I appreciate this! Thanks again.

And no, I figured that was your reason for skipping horror, but some of the ones I listed are very influential (Alien especially subverted a lot of tropes of the sci-fi genre.) If you actually watch them, I would probably recommend saving Videodrome for last and working your way up to it, as it's pretty nightmare inducing with its focus on body horror as well as the BDSM/snuff angle. (What do you expect from David Cronenberg?)
