I don't like scary, especially jump or shock scares. And hate anything really gruesome or excessive. But I really like creepy and morbid, and eerie atmosphere, combined with interesting dark plots.

I find the "dark circus" setting pretty intriguing, so to those who watch it, is it good for someone like me? I haven't seen any American Horror Story before.

Absolutely not.

It's totally, excessively gruesome and morbid. It was completely disgusting and, while I liked a few plot lines here and there and I like many of the actors and characters, overall Freak Show is a complete mess with a horrific conclusion and it revels in bleakness and gore just because it can. I do not reccomend it at all. (Tbh, all the seasons aren't great, but they are watchable. There was something about the end of this one that pissed me off so much because it was so horrific and terrible that it turned me off the series as a whole.)

Oh, if you like "dark circus," I reccomend Carnivale.

I second Carnivale! I need to watch that show all the way through at some point...

I gave up before it ended - what happened in the end? I really was *not* enjoying it at all, which sucked, because i like so many of the actors.

ayrt

Thanks! I won't waste my time then. I'm disappointed to hear that it went the totally disgusting route. I had heard good things about the Witch one (AHS) and someone had told me I might like it but I haven't seen it yet. I'll just avoid then!

And thanks for the recommendation,

I also gave up Freakshow, it was too disturbing for me. How'd it end?

Dandy bought the freakshow and murdered everyone but three boob lady, lobster kid and the twins (I don't remember their names, sorry) by stalking and shooting them throughout the fairground. It was really disturbing. Then The survivors drowned Dandy. Three boob lady lived happily ever after with some dude (who I think she'd already been seeing), and lobster boy and the twins were married. (I didn't mind their happy endings.) Elsa's end was actually good, as she became a star but then (for some reasons I can't remember but didn't mind), she decided to kill herself by performing on Halloween and allowing that hell dude with back of the head face to take her. (As I liked that the whole plot I didn't mind that at all.) I kinda stopped watching, but my fiancé was watching while I was as in the same room so I saw what happened.

Damn. Although yay for Elsa, the hell man was my fave plot line in it.

I hope the next season is better. It's the first AHS where I stopped watching :s

I really like that second pairing. :o But sadly I don't usually ship things in anime. Sorry, OP.

Text: For the longest time, everytime I heard or saw something about this show I thought it was a documentary. Lol.

I thought Lost was a reality show in the vein of Survivor for the first couple years it was on the air. Then I started hearing about a smoke monster and got *really* confused.
