Possibly because you have a limited stock of them and you're selling them at a con or wherever, where that kind of copyright complication has always existed in a gray area? Whereas you could sell an infinite number of digital copies, at little or no cost to yourself, thus potentially infinitely profiting from someone else's world, characters, and success. I dunno. I'm not saying whether they're right or wrong, I was just pointing out that you and others in this thread were likely mistaken when you interpreted anon as thinking that digital works were somehow inherently gross. It's disingenuous to discuss the topic as if fanfic and fanart are ethically no different from non-fan fiction and art. Or rather, as if everyone agrees that they're ethically no different.
