nayrt - The problem is, you don't build much of a resume with published work that doesn't pay you. Agents and editors distinguish between work that's published in a magazine that pays pro or semi pro rates vs. a magazine that doesn't. One counts for more, and it's not the magazine that pays peanuts or worse, nothing.

You're thinking of work for hire though, this isn't that. Read the info below to understand.
