Re: Game Rec Thread
The Fall--a stranded AI tries to save an injured human. Has cool puzzles and a pitch-black sense of humor. There is some gunplay, but it's not the central element. Part 1 of a planned series.
Full Bore--you are a boar. Dig for gems. Some tricky puzzles and a surprisingly complex story. Again, kind of creepy at times.
MacGuffin's Curse--no one ever needs to include a box puzzle in a game after this, because this does everything interesting you could possibly do with the idea of pushing crates around to open paths and hold down switches. Slow and meticulous, so whether you'll like it depends on how patient you are.
Miasmata--explore a beautiful deserted island for herbs to treat your plague. But whatever you do, don't wander carelessly past sunset. Something of a love-it-or-hate-it experience, it goes painfully far in making you feel like a half-dead plague victim struggling to survive. If nothing else, drawing your own maps is surprisingly fun.
One-Way Heroics--the end of the world is right behind you. Keep running and surviving until you're powerful enough to stop it. There's combat and leveling, but I wouldn't call it an action game. A very good example of fitting the themes to the gameplay, it can be surprisingly emotional, especially on higher difficulties.
Stacking--possess anyone who's bigger than you, using their wildly different abilities to solve puzzles and clear obstacles. Doesn't take itself seriously in the least, and can be quite funny.
The Swapper--collect keys and explore a space station with the help of a small army of highly expendable clones. Very creative puzzle designs. Warning: this is not a happy story.
Thomas Was Alone--a little red rectangle tries to understand the world around him. Critical Miss called this the best game of the year back when it released. I'm not going to spoil anything else. Just play it.
