I think the gaudy is the point, though?

(And honestly, just watch a few episodes of Voyager. Quark's outfits are understated elegance compared to Neelix's.)

Despite the fact that I've seen very little of DS9 (don't worry, I plan to remedy that situation soon), I can verify that this statement is devoid of lies. Not that it's really saying that much to call another character a better dresser than Neelix, seeing as the majority of his wardrobe looks like what you'd get if fabric could vomit.

In my opinion, Neelix cruises riiight past gaudy straight into GarishLand.

(Also: thumbs' yay up to viewing plans. DS9's pilot is a bit slow-moving at times, but picks up quickly and rewards both first and repeat viewings.)
