I think you mean fandom in Tumblr.

But yeah, I get you. I miss the times with the rise of the kink memes, the kink_bingo, the RP, the meta and informative posts on LJ/DW on kink/bdsm/sexuality for writers.

Now the fad is "your kink is problematic", "lol kinkshaming", "FEMALE FANS STOP READING M/F NONCON, YOU ARE OPPRESSING YOURSELF" all over the place.

Me, I blame the bronies who, unlike the majority of fandom had been doing with Harry Potter, keep popularizing their porny shit on mainstream and even bring it up to the creators. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cWBG1GKn8A

My favorite thing is the concern-trolling. 'I'm not saying you're a bad person, but you need to ask yourself why you like this ~problematic~ thing.' Sounding friendly while still telling people that something's wrong with them.

"Kink doesn't exist in a vacuum! Check all the things wrong in yur head that has conditioned you to get horny!"

God, it's like priests infusing catholic guilt in your sexual thoughts.

Yeah, it's like those anti-gay fundamentalists who go on about how they 'hate the sin, not the sinner'.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-02 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Except from using the bible they use radfem theory.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-02 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Either radfem theory or tumblr SJW theory. Different, both terrible.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-02 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
DA. There's actually quite a presence of radfems on tumblr. Also many baby feminists around tumblr don't really know anything about feminism, so they just take everything as feminist and Important. I think that's how a lot of outdated concepts

That and how a lot of them are probably still in the state of Sex Is Icky considering how many 13-14 year olds there are. So they're happy to accept sex-policing feminism as sexuality still scares them.

"That and how a lot of them are probably still in the state of Sex Is Icky considering how many 13-14 year olds there are."

Oh shit, all those tumblr asexuals and aros and "Asexuals face real oppression PSA" comics suddenly make more sense!

Ive often thought that a lot of the aces on tumblr are just young. that isn't to say they will ever be ready for, or interested in, sex, but many aren't mature enough to want it >_<

I just think stop trying to pigeon hole yourself!

This. It's not always the case, but my own sexuality didn't settle down until my early 20s, and changed again in my 30s. There's this huge myth that sexuality is set in stone when it can grow and develop in unexpected ways.

I really hope these tumblr teenagers aren't making any major life decisions based on their teen sexual orientation, or feel boxed in and then too embarrassed to admit it if they've changed.

it wasn't the bronies that started this though. There was that thing about sending Micahel Rosenbaum sex toys: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Michael_Rosenbaum

I mean way back to the Trek days people were asking what Spock's dick would look like. People send their smut fic to actors or showrunners all the time. With the rise of twitter and more showrunners and actors being available, it's more common, but it's always been a thing that happens and embarrasses everyone.

Yep, this is very true. The Bronies may have brought the issue to the forefront (largely because they're predominantly males in a fandom for something that's largely for young girls), but this kind of 4th wall breaking has been going on for years. Plus, it's not always the fans who do it: I remember Giancarlo Volpe (showrunner for the Green Lantern cartoon) used to troll the GLTAS tag on Tumblr and 'like' smut made of his Donut Steel OCs (Razer and Aya) just to rile people up for fun.

Hell, back in the 90's, Tress MacNeill (a voice actress for numerous cartoons back in the day) had one hell of a crazed stalker fan, who constantly sent her disturbing messages that made her fear for her life, and bear in mind, this was before social media like Twitter and whatnot. They scared her so bad, she stopped going to conventions for years altogether.

And I'm sure if you asked the likes of Steve Blum, Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, et al, I'm sure they'd have reams of stories of fans showing them things that probably should've remained hidden/out of sight/among friends.
