I don't know. I kind of feel like (a) the point of games like this is to enjoy yourself, so who cares if you win and also (b) imo dying continuously is a legitimate part of the whole roguelike experience

Sorry, I tried to think of a joke

Yeah, this. Hell, I've seen more than enough discussion of Roguelikes (NetHack, particularly) about the most interesting and impressive/bizarre way you've died. (In my case, trying to feed my horse, which hadn't managed to follow me to the next floor, and wouldn't obey me when I came back to get it...I screwed up, somehow, and ended up throwing the food at it, which pissed it off, and it killed me.)

OMG NETHACK DEATHS! My whole fucking family played Hack103! We had Stupidest Deaths* contests, practically!

Our mother's stupidest death was randomly teleporting atop a cockatrice corpse. Auto-pickup was on, so she picked it up, turned to stone, and died.

Mine is biologically contaminated orange juice. I'm STILL pissed about that. I even fucking TESTED the stupid potion for poison first!

--Rogan

*Stupidest, not worst. Everyone agreed that the worst death was starvation, closely followed by the dread, "the dungeon collapses around you."

I am curious as to how you pulled that one off.

This is very true. I was recently streaming Crypt of the NecroDancer and was apologizing for all the times I was dying and my chat literally said "stop apologizing and have fun!"
