Not a damned thing.

Idk then, because this isn't exactly a usual thing to do. I'd wager the reason most people keep coming back is for the community and the nostalgia or the discussion.

If you're obsessed about rules and enforcing them, specifically in your free time, the usual guess would be that it's making up for the sense of a lack of control. But if that's not it, then maybe you should start thinking about why in particular you feel like this is something you need to do.

We already have a mod, after all, and he tends to do a pretty good job of keeping everything clean.

I think you misunderstand. I though I was obsessing over rules and enforcing them as well, up until today. The rules are not the ends themselves, The rules are a tools that I can legitimately use to... express my dissatisfaction. The rules are what I do to play one-up-man on people I think I would much prefer to just argue with.

I don't want to be a mod, but I also really don't want to engage with our mod anymore. I feel case has become a bit of a blunt instrument, and at this point I feel more comfortable wielding him than I do risking engaging with him. Does that make sense?

If it makes sense to you, that's what really matters. I mean, I'm not a mind reader so I can't really comment other than to offer interpretation. Answering your own questions for yourself is what's most important.

Ultimately though, I feel like case is doing the best he can with a kind of shitty situation (dwindling community which is constantly attracting new trolls). I don't think there's too much more to be done about the situation, really.

You might try a new direction though? I only started enjoying fandom again once I became a named user and started making friends again, for what it's worth.

You're too afraid to argue with people and risk stewing over internet drama, so you'd rather call case in to deal with it for you.

Either respond to these people, or don't. LET IT GO.

Don't use case as a go-between or a scapegoat, he's just a mod trying to do his and keep F!S a chill place to visit.
