No, I'll try this, too! I drink peppermint on a regular basis, but that's mostly something that helps against physical pain and insomnia. I know herbs can have a wonderful effect.

AYRT

Get Egyptian chamomile, if you can, and thank me later. I think peppermint would keep you awake, no? Since it's rather perk-you-up etc.? I never heard about it for pain, I'll have to try a cup next time I'm achey. I have tried white willow bark, with great success pain-wise. Only drawback, the stuff is naaaaaaaaasty. I know people who swear by valerian root tea or pills for insomnia, but it never did anything for me but make me puke, so. Chamomile = also soothing for the stomach. And avoid green tea, even the decaf has a certain amount of caffeine in it as well.

If you can handle the very strong smell, lavender is supposed to be good, for anxiety and insomnia; you can either buy the oil and put a few drops on your pillow, or get the actual flowers (if you can), keep them in your room for the smell, then dry them for a tea.

It's supposed to keep you awake and be "invigorating" (as it says on the box), but it puts me to sleep in no time at all! Maybe it's just my organism being weird. But I always use it for menstrual cramps, and nothing helps quite like it (bar actual painkillers, but these have unpleasant side effects).

I can't stand bad-tasting herbs etc., so I could never drink willow bark or valerian root, though!

I'll certainly try Egyptian chamomile, ty. And lavender sounds like a good option, too - I actually like the smell. Another nonnie recommended rosemary essential oil, which I may also try. My room will probably end up smelling like a perfume shop XD
