I'm confused about number 2 (I don't watch Avatar so that's not helping). Did someone create a comic intentionally to offend some shippers, then call them retarded in the last panel for finding it offensive? Um, you're part of the problem dude.

The comic here reminded me of how I always found it kind of interesting that Isaia is huge into SJ, yet she was the one the people responsible for coining the Avatar fan name ('Avatard') after what is generally considered to be an abelist slur by a fair amount of people. But that's just me.

Has she said anything about it? I don't really follow bnfs but it seems to me she got older, the general online environment changed, she probably changed her mind...

I have no clue if she has or not. Maybe she did -and she did strike me as the type who would own up to that sort of thing-, but it was probably long before I entered the same fandom space as her (in this case, Green Lantern: TAS. We briefly interacted on a rare few occasions, but I largely kept my distance).

Yeah I only really interacted with her when atla was in season one so I don't even know if people still use the word anymore. They probably don't on tumblr at least.

From what I can tell, 'Avatard' apparently fell out of favor by the time Korra started, because I haven't seen anyone use it to refer to themselves as an Avatar in a long time.

Avatard is the fandom's nickname for itself, this comic is an affectionate injoke about Fandom behaviors. I think this one is pretty old, but the artist is also making fun of herself here.

Ah, that clears it up a bit. Thank you!
