Re: The whole "think of the children" angle is weird to me

Not in fiction! That's the entire point I'm trying to make. It doesn't matter. And please don't feed me any bullshit about "well what if predators get ideas and then assault children" because there is literally no proven correlation-- much like there's no statistically proven connection between, say, violence in video games and enacting violence in real life. It's fiction.

I think they were just bothered by the thought of you misusing "may-december romance" (which you did, tbf. the kind of relationship that you're describing would fall under the lolicon/underage trope) rather than by the concept of an older man and a very underage girl having a sexual relationship in fiction

Ahh, okay, I could see taking issue with that. Bad phrasing on my part, my apologies. I always assumed it could be used for all pairings with a large age gap, regardless of the ages of the characters, but I'll keep it mind not to use the term quite so liberally from now on. Thanks for clarifying that for me!

No worries, it happens. I think a lot of people are unaware that the trope operates under some fairly specific circumstances (detailed here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MayDecemberRomance) and it's not unreasonable to initially think that all large age gaps would fall under it
