I'm as far from edgy as can be, and he's one of my favorite Doctors; he got me back into the fandom after years away from it, Eccleston's characterization is amazing, and on a shallow note, he's sex on legs ... I'll take your word for it, but I'm honestly not sure why people would consider it edgy or hip to claim him as their Doctor.
