I've started exploring other monster-collecting games other than Pokemon. I'm going through Dragonquest Monsters - Joker now.

Ooh, I love DQM Joker. I wish there were more games with the whole breed two monsters to get better monsters thing. IV breeding in pokemon is somewhat similar but not quite.

(Also random rec, but if you have Gamecube/emulator, Lost Kingdoms is the only other game I've found with the breeding thing (if you also like that sort of thing). It's card-based though. But real time card based. It's weird. I love it.)

I'm definitely having fun with the synthesizing thing.

My brother's old gamecube might still be downstairs... Otherwise I might look into an emulator so I can check out Lost Kingdoms.

Hooray!

Now that I'm thinking about the actual detailed mechanics though, I lied. :( It's evolution (a la Pokemon), not cross breeding. But it's a weird complicated breeding, which I think is why I misremembered. Like each card has about three different things it can become, which in turn have three different things they can become (and so on and so forth). And then different cards can end up becoming the same thing... It's like a web.
