Now I'm wondering if any time there's perceived character competition, people can't simply have different tastes and therefore have different favorites and there's always an edgy choice. Like for Star Trek captain or Friend - no, okay, those would totally be Archer and Ross, respectively, dammit, maybe you're right. Wait, I got it, what is the edgy choice for Batman? West is campy fun, Keaton is old school cool, and Bale is, well, people like his Batman. Oh damn, forgot about Kilmer and Clooney, it's totally Clooney, isn't it?

The hipster choice for Trek captain is definitely Sisko.

(As in so many of these cases, it's also absolutely the right one)
