I assume hospital knows he's absconded?

Either way, I'd call local mental health team if he has one, or police, and ask them to check in on him. Though whether I'd call police depends a lot on what his local police services are like dealing with mentally ill people. I only have UK experience of this.

They're aware but I doubt much effort would be put into a manhunt. The hospital, fuck them, are the ones who told us. There will be a complaint. We are worried he's at risk of hurting himself or others during his crash :(

Ugh, horrible situation, and as I said, very hard to advise from abroad as I know what UK services are mandated to do, but no idea overseas. For instance in UK, if really afraid and know where person is, can call for an ambulance saying you believe person is about to commit life-threatening self-harm (and that will often get police involved too). But just no idea what it's like where you are.

Similarly, hospital afraid of legal complaint / bad publicity may in theory put more pressure on police etc, but so depends on situation in your country.

I just left you another comment, and wish I could stay up later as really empathize with fear it must be causing you, but have medical appointment in morning so ought not stay up all night! otoh can easily stay up another half hour. Going to add you as friend in case you want to PM. (Have some experience via boyfriend and other friends.)

I'm at work now but Facebook has gone quiet so I hope he's sleeping. A lot of what he says doesn't make sense and the rest is about he doesn't want to go back to the hospital. Sigh. I'm not sure which authorities can take him if found. Previously it was only if he was a danger but he has escaped from hospital now so maybe they'll come.

Tldr I'm not sure the authority processes either. I hope that cause he's run off he can be picked up by them if someone says where he is.

I think he may have passed out tho. FB has been quiet awhile
