Things TV Shows, Movies and Other Media Have Made You Paranoid About

Or at least just a little bit twitchy.

Thanks to Seinfeld, sometimes when I'm licking envelopes I worry they'll be poison.

I don't really think that would happen, buuut...

Thanks to Doctor Who I now have to check under my bed before going to sleep and I have to stand up and get at least an arm's length from it really quickly when I get up in the middle of the night. Thanks a lot Moffat.

I know I'm not the only one who's been paranoid about being the star of a real version of The Truman Show.

I've been thinking about this since I was a kid.

there was a twilight zone episode that had the same premise as the Truman show much earlier and I've sometimes wondered about it.

Because of Candyman, bathroom mirrors made me hella paranoid to the point where I checked the mirrors a million times while showering. For about 7 years. (I was 5 when I first saw the film.)

Once, I was getting my haircut when I started worrying about whether someone would be able to use the leftover hair to do magic against me

The only thing that calmed me down was realizing that I don't have any enemies who know how to use magic

Do you seriously think that there is such a thing as magic that can be used against you as long as someone has your hair, or is this a joke?

I don't think that magic can be used against me, because magic isn't real. But it isn't a joke, either - I did think those things. Then I immediately realized how completely absurd it was.

Criminal Minds is the reason I always double check all the locks, even the ones that don't make sense to check (like the lock of a window too small for anyone to enter, which is not even possible since this is a fifth floor with no other buildings close to it).

I know how ridiculous it is, but the "Squeeze" and "Tooms" episodes of The X-Files made me really uneasy about drains and heating vents and holes in the floor. And don't even get me started about Flukey and PortAPotties.

Between It and Psycho, it's a wonder I ever get in the shower

True story: When I was growing up, my parents' shower had a drain that had square holes and so with water tension, a meniscus would form and cling and as water droplets formed at the bottom, they would sometimes catch the light and look like little shining golden eyes.
