Thanks for the rec!

I've read All Quiet on the Western Front and loved it.

I was actually hoping to get some recs on post-Vietnam. It's IMPOSSIBLE to try to sort through Amazon because the full blown propaganda gets voted 5 stars and I'm REALLY not interested in reading that.

I haven't read it, but I've heard that 'Jarhead' is pretty good. The author was a Marine in the Gulf War.

For a more classical approach, there's 'Gates of Fire' by Steven Pressfield. It's about the Battle of Thermopylae and is very, very bad ass.
