(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 02:53 am (UTC)(link)Original Text: I'm not a fan of the way Jon goes around judging Selyse in her role as a wife and a mother. You just met this woman, in her capacity as queen. Your interactions with her are strictly limited to that context, and your problems and disagreements with her are relatd to her public role as queen. So yeah, by all means, Jon, judge her all you want in her role as queen, you're well within your rights there. But you don't know anything about her marriage, about her relationship with her daughter, about how she is as a wife and a mother. Who are you to judge Selyse as a wife and a mother? What gives you the right?
Secret Text: I got into an argument with a friend about this because I think it's ridiculous to get all offended at characters judging other characters. They're in a brutal, politically unstable setting where their lives depend on their ability to accurately assess the people around them, so of course they're going to be judging people left and right.
It's the Seven Kingdoms, not bloody Tumblr.
