Text: Fandom makes my bookmark hoarding problem a lot worse.
It adds more to the dump of half-read/unread bookmarks I have to schlep through the rare days I have the motivation to clean them up, and the off-chance of people seeing the WTF-y fandom things I keep tabs on worries me at the back of my mind.

You have too many open bookmarks or saved bookmarks? Because while the first one may slow down your machine the second one doesn't do any harm.

Yea, I had this problem with my last computer. I've been making a conscious effort to organize bookmarks since then, as well as save fewer in the first place.

My major problem is gifs. Since getting into tumblr I feel like I save ALL the gifs, and while I organize those too, I'm always behind on it.

Damn you tumblr.

Maybe make a sockpuppet account for keeping track of the weirdo, probably-not-gonna-read-this stuff, and use your main account for your "real" favorites?

Good idea.

Other anon here worried about all the fandom bookmarks on my computer/devices. When my hardware breaks, I can't bring myself to take it to be repaired, because I have to leave it overnight and it's too embarrassing. If I can't repair it myself, I don't.

You can export all your bookmarks as an html focument, delete them from your browser, and then reupload them later. You can also move all your files/pics to a thumbdrive or dropbox before giving it to the IT people. It's not foolproof, but unless they're purposely snooping around, they probably won't run across your stuff. And if they do, I guarantee it won't be the weirdest shit they've seen.
