I haven't finished that one on my own playthrough yet (This game is REALLY fucking long) but I have watched most the cutscenes (And been spoiled for the rest) and I have to say it is quite a compelling romance. Not the typical BioWare romance, but I find it to be heartfelt and lovely. It is sad (I've seen some people who are pissed about the ending), but I don't see how it could've ended any other way.

But then again Solas on a whole was a surprise to me, and is one of my favorite companions. He has some great, great banter with your party. (Though the banter in this game is pretty much amazing no matter who you use. The banter is def one thing BioWare got right.)

If you've played the other Dragon Age games I would say you should give Inquisition a chance! It isn't my favorite BioWare game and it falls short of what I feel it should have been in a lot of ways, but it's still a decent game. I would however wait until it goes on sale, and until most of the bugs are patched. (Because somehow that STILL HASN'T HAPPENED.)
